The Lost Chick

The day starts as a typical patrol at the Riverdill Farmhouse, until one of Mrs. Hen’s precious chicks disappears. Bo and Mr. Quillery follow the chick’s tracks to the perilous quarry, with the Hissy Gang and trouble at every corner. The twin sheriffs will need teamwork, quick thinking, and bravery to bring the little one home.

Questions parents ask
What age are the Bo and Mr. Quillery books for?
They’re early chapter books for ages 6–11 (grades 1–4). Families also read them aloud together, so a younger brother or sister can listen in on the same story.
What order should we read them in?
Start with Book 1, The Lost Chick, then The Mystery of the Broken Towers and The Stolen Necklace. Each book is its own adventure, but the friendships and the Riverdill Lands grow from one book to the next.
Are these Christian books?
They come from a Christian worldview. The faith is woven into how the characters choose, not preached at the reader. Each book has a free, faith-based discussion guide if you want to talk about it together.
Will my son like them?
If he likes dogs, cowboys and mysteries, there’s a good chance. Every book has villains to outwit, a case to crack and plenty of humor, with Leo Hartas’s illustrations throughout.
Is there an audiobook?
Yes, narrated by Kody himself. The Lost Chick audiobook is free when you join the newsletter, and all three audiobooks are in the store, along with free Yoto card templates.
